When the air begins to feel cool and dry (yes, even in Los Angeles), I know it’s about to be chapped lip season. It also doesn’t help that I fly back home for the holidays, which means the dry plane air makes wearing matte lipstick impossible. For years, no matter what balm, exfoliating scrub, or medicated ointment I used, it all seemed to sit on the surface of my lips and never absorb. While a few provided some immediate relief, I still found myself reapplying multiple times a day in order to feel any long-term benefit.
Which is why once I started seeing K-beauty brand, Laniege’s Sleeping Lip Mask ($20) all over Instagram, I knew I had to try it. I’d never seen so many people give such rave reviews…about a lip treatment. But as soon as I opened the jar, it was easy to see why. I’ll start with the fact that the product smells exactly like a strawberry fruit snack (total 90’s Lip Smacker vibes). Then there’s the whipped texture that easily glides onto the lips to absorb and lock in moisture.
Normally, I don’t believe when a product says it can cure something overnight, but this balm actually did. I was shocked when I woke up the next morning with perfectly soft lips, and never had to reapply a balm for the rest of the day.
As for ingredients, the sleeping mask includes two of Laniege’s unique skincare technologies: Berry Mix Complex™ – a mix of berries that are rich in Vitamin C and antioxidants to heal rough and dry lips and Moisture Wrap™ – featuring hyaluronic acid and minerals to form a moisturizing film and lock-in active ingredients deep into the lips.
If your lips are looking for some extra TLC, I highly suggest trying the Laniege Lip Sleeping Mask. It’s definitely become a staple in my nighttime skincare routine!
