Curl Creams For Every Budget From Ouai, Bread, and more!

Curl Creams For Every Budget From Ouai, Bread, and more!

If I could only bring one hair product to a desert island, it would be a curl cream. Curl creams are multi-taskers, they condition and hydrate your hair as well as tame frizz, define curls, and enhance shine. My thick 3C curls love the moisture and definition I get from curl creams, and the lazy lady in me loves the ease of just using one product.

I’m pretty loyal to my skincare routine, but I switch up my hair care routine all the time. So here are the curl creams I’ve had on rotation.

Bread makes some of my favorite curly hair products, so it was no surprise that I loved their curl cream too. It’s a leave-in conditioner and styler hybrid that leaves me with shiny, defined curls. It also has a unique berry popsicle scent. The formula has heat protectant properties to protect your curls before a silk press or blowout.

To refresh my curls between wash days, I spray them with some water and run this product through. It’s just enough to give my thick curls definition and shine without weighing them down, I think it would be perfect on its own for those with finer hair.

Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie

In my opinion, the process of achieving flawless curls should require minimal effort and this product can help you get there. It’s a holy grail in the curly community and works for all curl types and textures. This coconut-based curl cream will give you tons of definition without feeling stiff or crunchy. The affordable price is a bonus!

If you need a product that will spring lifeless, fuzzy curls back to life, it’s this one. It’s formulated with sweet almond oil and shea butter, which condition and soften, and aloe vera juice to fight frizz. The whipped texture and delicious smell make this such a treat to use!

The texture and hold of the curling custard is more like a gel, but it conditions your hair like a cream. I apply it to soaking wet hair after I apply a leave-in conditioner, then I use a t-shirt to soak up excess water and finish up with a diffuser. Whenever I use this product my curls look great for at least three days. Pro tip: to protect your curls while you sleep, wear a silk bonnet!
